Ponytail Lift
Dr. Beale’s practice incorporates a unique facial rejuvenation procedure called the ponytail lift. This procedure is designed to rejuvenate the mid and upper face and is ideal as a standalone procedure for women in their 30s, 40s, and 50s who have early cheek descent and peri-orbital aging. For patients who are happy with their jawline and neck appearance, it provides optimal rejuvenation of the cheeks by vertically repositioning them to a more youthful position without the use of traditional facelift incisions.
Through incisions behind the hairline, in the upper eyelid, and inside the lip, the cheek is released and lifted in a near-vertical direction rather than being pulled sideways, avoiding a swept appearance and resulting in a more balanced, natural outcome.
Contact UsBecause Every Detail Matters
If you are happy with your jawline and neck but feel you look older than you should or appear tired in the cheeks and peri-orbital region, this procedure may be ideal for you. The incisions are hidden within the hairline, the upper eyelid, and inside the mouth, eliminating the need for traditional facelift incisions. This makes the procedure an excellent option for younger patients because it allows for significant cheek rejuvenation while keeping incisions well concealed. During your consultation, Dr. Beale will evaluate your facial anatomy and aesthetic goals to determine the best treatment approach for your needs.
The recovery timeline varies from person to person, but here is a general overview of what to expect during the healing process:
Immediately Post-Operative (Day 1–2)
- Mild swelling and bruising are expected but are often less than with more traditional facelift techniques because the procedure repositions the deeper facial tissues without extensive skin undermining.
- Mild bruising of the cheeks is possible and may occur more frequently when a lower blepharoplasty is performed at the same time.
- You’ll receive detailed post-operative instructions to help manage discomfort and support the healing process.
First Week
- Swelling continues to improve throughout the first week, with many patients feeling comfortable returning to many daily activities within five to seven days.
- Upper blepharoplasty sutures are typically removed around six days after surgery.
First Two Weeks
- Scalp sutures are generally removed within 12 to 14 days.
- The repositioned facial tissues continue healing into their new position as swelling gradually subsides.
Final Results (Several Months)
- Most patients notice improvement much sooner than with traditional facelift techniques. Near-final results can typically be expected within four to six weeks, with continued refinement over the following months.
- Dr. Beale will monitor your healing throughout recovery and provide guidance on when it is appropriate to resume more strenuous activities.
- Restores a youthful position to the cheeks, nasolabial folds, eyes and brows
- Lifts the cheeks in a natural upward direction
- Provides long-lasting support through repositioning of the deeper facial tissues
- Can be customized with complementary facial rejuvenation procedures
This procedure is frequently combined with additional treatments to achieve more comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Depending on your goals, Dr. Beale may recommend fat grafting to restore facial volume, upper or lower blepharoplasty to rejuvenate the eyes, or CO₂ laser resurfacing to improve skin tone and texture. This procedure can also be combined with a deep plane facelift to restore a youthful jawline and neck contour when more comprehensive facial rejuvenation is desired. During your consultation, Dr. Beale will develop a personalized treatment plan based on your anatomy and the results you hope to achieve.
